Trent ties Primaries to survival of Auto Industry

Now this is over the top, Trent, tying the survival of the auto industry to Michigan's primary election. The reason the auto industry is in trouble is because they put short-term corporate profits ahead of long-term stategy. We've all known that higher oil prices have been coming for a long time. What did the U.S. auto industry do, build more SUV's that get awful gas mileage. So now what do they want? They want Congress to sit on their hands instead of demanding that U.S. built vehicles give consumers higher gas mileage.

We should demand better from our auto manufacturers and the Democrats did the right thing by revoking the $6 billion in subsidies to the oil companies that are already making historical profits off the backs of average Americans. Joe Knollenberg and Republicans are always willing to put profits ahead of people.

The survival of the auto industry doesn't depend on when Michigan votes for our presidential candidates. It depends on our representatives doing the right thing for a change.

If we can put a man on the moon in 10 years, surely we can figure out a way for our cars and trucks to get 50 or even 100 miles per gallon. But that will take leadership and that's what Joe Knollenberg is short on.

One more thing, Trent, you might want to get a new picture. This one looks like those mug shots of Tom DeLay and Larry Craig.

Almost 600 people packed the auditorium at Pontiac Cental High School on August 28 to send a message to Joe Knollenberg that when he goes back to Congres in September, he should listen to his constituents and not George Bush and support the troops and bring them home to their families and loved ones.

Joe NOllenberg made an appearance and was serenaded by the Raging Grannies.


There were lots of impeachment signs visible. Hold George W. Bush and Dick Cheney accountable for their crimes against humanity.

John Conyers spoke to the Iraq Summer Town Hall meeting in Pontiac, Michigan last night. This isn't the entire video, but Conyers did say impeachment is on the table, but the votes do not exist to successfully prosecute Bush and Cheney for their crimes against America.

Today in Auburn hills 40 constituents of the 9th Congressional District held a press conference and presented Joe NOllenberg with a check for over $1 billion, representing the cost to constituents of the war in Iraq so far.

Troy, MI –Debbie Jackson does not know why, over four years after President Bush declared “mission accomplished” in Iraq, General Petraeus wants to keep our troops there for another decade. “So, the question our military moms, dads, wives, sons, daughters have of the government is: what is the mission there now? There is a difference between supporting our troops and supporting this war as it is now!” Last week, Army Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute recommended a draft to facilitate such a prolonged occupation and elected representatives, including Joe Knollenberg, the U.S. Congressman from Debbie’s area, have yet to lift a finger to thwart it. Representatives from the 9th District Chapter of Americans Against Escalation in Iraq will be present together with Joe NOllenberg, a giant puppet-head symbolizing the Congressman’s refusal to stand up for American troops, instead giving in to pressure from the administration. On August 28th, the group has invited Congressman Knollenberg for a Townhall meeting at Central High School in Pontiac to take a stand against the Iraq war. The Congressman’s office has yet to respond to the invitation.

Joe NOllenberg was in Rochester Sunday at Rock 'n Rods Sunday inviting people to Pontiac Town Hall 8/28 at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, August 12, Joe NOllenberg was campaigning in Rochester at Rock 'n Rods. There was a little encounter with a small round Republican who wanted to confiscate my memory card. Gee, I guess he thinks free speech is only for people that agree with him.

Knollenberg prescription for health care deadly

In today's Oakland Press, Joe Knollenberg trots out the same old tired line about socialized medicine and "evil" trial lawyers. I issue a challenge to Joe Knollenberg, go with me to see Michael Moore's new documentary, Sicko, then say that universal, single-payer health care doesn't work and that private enterprise does it better. It is common knowledge that Medicare does work extremely efficiently and their administrative costs are 2-3%, compared to 25-30% for the private health insurance industry. Another problem with Joe's plan, there are 47 million uninsured people in the country and more joining the rolls every day. Over 50% of the bankruptcies in this country occur due to medical emergencies caused by medical bills of people who had insurance.

I will be interviewing Adrian Campbell on my community television show soon. Adrian is a 25-year old woman who contracted ovarian cancer and had to go to Canada to get treatment, because her health plan refused coverage, saying 22-year-olds (she was 22 when she was diagnosed) don't get ovarian cancer. Then, to make matters worse, because she was in the movie, she was fired by her employer.

If Joe Knollenberg thinks his plan to offer a tax credit to employers for offering a wellness program is the solution, I dare him to walk a mile in Adrian's shoes. Why don't you come on my show with Adrian, Joe, and tell her how well your plan for a tax credit for an employer wellness program will work for her? I dare you, Joe.

According to the web site National Priorities for the cost of what we have spent in the 9th Congressional District of Michigan in 2007 on the war in Iraq, we could have provided health care to 121,000 citizens.

Quit blowing smoke up our butts, Joe. Universal, single-payer health care does work and it's time for America to take care of its citizens instead of fighting an ill-conceived war that President Bush lied us into for profits from the Iraqi oil fields.

Trent Wisecup and Joe Knollenberg Ultimate Hypocrites

In the article below Trent Wisecup, Joe Knollenberg's spokesperson (Joe never seems to talk to the press himself) Trent says, "Certain things are private and that includes his (Knollenberg's) home." Isn't that ironic since Joe Knollenberg voted in favor of the recently passed Protect America Act, which gives President Bush even more power to spy on Americans. It seems Joe Knollenberg is the worst kind of hypocrite. He believes in one level of privacy for Congressmen and no privacy for the average citizen. Way to go, Joe. Why does Joe Knollenberg think that he's entitled to privacy, but you and I are not? Does this man really deserve to be our Congressman? I think not.

Knollenberg afraid of old ladies and ice cream

For those of you that follow this blog regularly, you have already seen the video of our two visits to Joe Knollenberg's neighborhood and to Joe's house specifically. On the first occasion we had the Raging Grannies with us and they sang a couple songs. On the second occasion we were delivering free ice cream to Joe's neighbors and we offered one to Joe's wife, Sandi. We were briefly detained by the Bloomfield Township police when we entered the subdivision where Joe lives. We have video of the encounter with the police. On three separate occasions during our conversation they confirm we did nothing wrong and let us go on our way.

Well, today I received a registered letter from the Bloomfield Township police outlining the local ordinances they feel we were violating as a result of our visits threatening legal action if we return to Joe's neighborhood.

Joe, all we want to do is talk to you. Why the bully tactics? If ever there was evidence that you have learned your lessons at the knee of Karl Rove, this is it. You don't want to face your constituents about your stand on the war, but you have no problem calling in the cops.

How scary can a couple old ladies singing on your porch be? How frightening is it for someone to offer your wife a free ice cream and invite you to a Town Hall meeting to discuss the most important issue of our time, the war in Iraq.

Joe, you have learned your lessons well. Don't negotiate, declare war. Bring in the lawyers, stonewall.

Why not show some courage, Joe? Don't hide behind the police. What kind of representative of the people continues to stonewall until they are removed from office? One name comes to mind, Joe, Richard M. Nixon. And we all know what happened to him.

Joe Nollenberg invites residents to 8/28 Town Hall

On Wedndesday, Joe NOllenberg was walking the streets in Pontiac to invite people to attend the August 28 Iraq Town Hall meeting at Pontiac Central High School.  Joe Knollenberg has not responded yet to the invitation he received. 

Chet Zarko, a regular commeter here is really a paid Republican operative

On Saturday in White Lake, Joe NOllenberg had his first encouter with Chet Zarko. Chet is a paid Republican consultant, apparently working for Joe Knollenberg. Chet had his video camera with him on Sunday and really wanted to know about the the giant head of Joe NOllenberg. Chet also worked on the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative petition campaign and which was actually successful, mostly due to the fact that petition gatherers were lying to petiton signers about what they were signing and the confusing name of the campaign, which actually was successful in denying the state from using race as a factor in college admissions and state employment. Knollenberg Votes With Big Oil Companies

Once again, Joe Knollenberg has voted for big oil and against alternative energy.

On Friday, Joe Knollenberg voted NO on the "Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Tax Act of 2007". [H.R. 2776, 08/04/07, Roll Call 835]

Title I of the Act describes the purpose of the Act:

Extends through 2012 the tax credit for the production of electricity from renewable resources (e.g., wind, closed and open-loop biomass, geothermal energy, small irrigation power, municipal solid waste, and qualified hydropower). Imposes a limit on such tax credit based upon investment in renewable resource facilities placed in service after 2008 in lieu of the current phaseout provisions for such credit.

This Act provided tax incentives to companies and individuals to use and develop alternative energy. It even seems to provide a tax credit to our domestic auto companies to develop and produce plug-in hybrid vehicles!

So, once again, Joe Knollenberg voted AGAINST our domestic auto industry.


Apparently Joe Knollenberg isn't concerned that we import 65% of our oil -- even though it poses such obvious national security concerns.

Joe votes against resting our troops

Every day Joe Knollenberg casts more votes that show how out of step he is with his constituents. Yesterday Joe voted against a bill that gives our soldiers serving in Iraq a one-to-one ratio between time served in Iraq and time spent at home before being redeployed.
