There is something terribly wrong with this country when your first amendment rights are violated. Shame on the Troy police for being a lackey of the Republican Party.
Mike,
The Troy Dems DID EXACTLY THE SAME THING TO ME 6 MONTHS AGO IN EXACTLY THE SAME BUILDING AND THE PEOPLE SPEAKING WERE CANDIDATES FOR PUBLIC OFFICE (they weren't here). Where was your outrage then?
The difference is that unlike Fealk, I didn't push the issue, and I know trespass law well enough to know that this is NOT a clear Constitutional issue.
Fealk did not have his First Amendment rights violated (which he could care less about anyway, as evidenced by his "First Amendment for me, but not others" mentality (he'd have Lennox arrested for "stalking", but thinks his own turd smells ok)). If he did, I'd be defending him here and in court. I wasn't too happy about not being allowed to videotape (either by the Dems, or the Republicans when Fealk was arrested, since they also asked me not to tape as well), but I'm socially graceful enough and know enough about the law to know that if the room is privately rented it may indeed be reasonable for the private renter to restrict taping (and respect private property rights enough).
Bruce pushed the law without knowing it well, and I suspect he's going to appropriately pay the price for his arrogance.
