Lobbyist Runs Dishonest PR Blitz for Knollenberg

Joe Knollenberg's Chief of Staff, Trent Wisecup, is a Washington, D.C. lobbyist.

We've already given examples of the type of sleazy work Wisecup has done like lobbying AGAINST seniors being able to get less expensive medicine from Canada. Here are some links to Wisecup's work:

See, they are all lies. Availability of generic drugs are not preventing anyone from obtaining brand name drugs. It is the outrageous prices that prevent people from buying brand name drugs. And the argument about the "danger" of importing medicine is funny because most of our medicine IS imported.Very little is made on this continent.

Now, as Knollenberg's Chief Lobbyist, Wisecup is putting out similar glossy materials (at taxpayer expense) and writing letters to editors trying to cover up Knollenberg's abysmal record for the past 14 years. Knollenberg has published more letters to the editor this year than he did in the previous 14 years!

But perhaps Knollenberg would be better off investing in a proofreader:

Knollenberg Supports Human Cloning

Joe Knollenberg voted NO on a bill to prohibit human cloning!!!!

No, really he did. See for yourself: H.R. 2560, June 6, 2007, Roll Call Vote #439.

According to CNN, the bill:

makes it illegal to use cloning technology to initiate a pregnancy and create a cloned human being. Violators would be subject to up to 10 years in prison and face fines of up to $10 million.

"The bill bans human reproductive cloning. Nothing more, nothing less," said Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colorado, the bill's sponsor. "It defies logic why anyone would vote against this bill.
Joe Knollenberg voted AGAINST a BAN on human CLONING!

So, in summary, Joe Knollenberg thinks embryos should be put in medical waste incinerators but that cloning is okay.

Joe Knollenberg Thinks Embryos Should be Incinerated

Once again, Joe Knollenberg has voted AGAINST Stem Cell Research. [S.5., Roll Call Vote 443, June 7, 2007]

Fortunately, S.5, The Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act, passed the house in spite of Knollenberg's vote.

The bill would allow for researchers to use embryonic stem cells from embryos that had been donated to in vitro fertilization clinics for fertility treatment, but weren't used and were going to be discarded anyway.

Here is the official summary of the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2007:

Amends the Public Health Service Act to require the Secretary of Health and Human Services to conduct and support research that utilizes human embryonic stem cells, regardless of the date on which the stem cells were derived from a human embryo.

Limits such research to stem cells that meet the following ethical requirements:
(1) the stem cells were derived from human embryos donated from in vitro fertilization clinics for the purpose of fertility treatment and were in excess of the needs of the individuals seeking such treatment;
(2) the embryos would never be implanted in a woman and would otherwise be discarded; and
(3) such individuals donate the embryos with written informed consent and receive no financial or other inducements.

So, according to Joe Knollenberg, it is better to send the embryo to a medical waste incinerator rather than use it to advance medical treatments.

How is the weather down there Joe?

Joe Knollenberg is so close to George Bush he often trips on Bush's coattail. Joe Knollenberg votes however George Bush tells him to vote.

When Bush wants more money, even thought it will result in increasing our national debt, Knollenberg votes Yes.

When Bush wants more money to keep troops in Iraq in the middle of an unwinnable civil war, Joe Knollenberg votes Yes.

When Bush wants to cut funds for veterans, Joe Knollenberg votes Yes.

When Bush wants to cut funds for education, Joe Knollenberg votes Yes.

When Bush wants to cut funds for Seniors, Joe Knollenberg votes Yes.

When Bush wants trade agreements that result in shipping our jobs overseas, Joe Knollenberg votes Yes.

Unfortunately for Joe Knollenberg, George Bush has turned out to be the worst President in the history of the Country. And the public knows it.

Fortunately for us, Bush's record low approval ratings are a good reflection of Joe Knollenberg's approval ratings as well. Just take a look at this chart from z-facts:

Joe, Meet Franked

Once again Joe Knollenberg is showing his utter lack of respect for fiscal responsibility.

Joe Knollenberg continues to send out campaign brochures while charging the costs of preparing, printing, and mailing to taxpayers!!

Here is his latest mailing. Judge for yourself:

The purpose of the "franking" privilege is to provide members of Congress with a means of communicating important information to their constitutents. Does this mailing have anything important in it?

Campaign literature on the other hand, promotes the candidate.

What do you think this latest mailing is? Useful information that should be sent out using taxpayer money or a campaign brochure?

As we have mentioned numerous times before, Joe Knollenberg's Chief of Staff, Trent Wisecup is a Washington, D.C. LOBBYIST. Take a look at the sleazy ad campaign Wisecup ran that was AGAINST allowing seniors to save money by buying imported medicine.

See, they are all lies.
Availability of generic drugs are not preventing anyone from obtaining brand name drugs. It is the outrageous prices that prevent people from buying brand name drugs.

And the argument about the "danger" of importing medicine is funny because most of our medicine IS imported.

Very little is made on this continent. You should be worried if you order medicine from China, but then again you should be worried if the toothpaste you bought was made there too.

But medicine made in or sold in England, Germany, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, etc. all have to meet minimum safety standards. Given the incompetence of the BUSH/KNOLLENBERG administration, the programs in those countries are probably better than what the FDA is doing.

But more importantly, notice how these campaign materials look a lot like Joe Knollenberg's mailings? Glossy, but wrong.

How can you trust a guy who hires a lobbyist for a Chief of Staff.

Once again, this just shows that Joe Knollenberg lacks the judgment necessary to represent the voters of Oakland County.

Bush & Knollenberg Reinstate the Cold War

Just when you thought Bush and Knollenberg had done the worst things in history, they come along and top themselves!

It seems that Joe Knollenberg's rubber stamp of George Bush has led to a new crisis -- the second coming of the Cold War.

Valdimir Putin thinks Bush and Knollenberg want to restart the arms race.

Bush decided he didn't want to be held to the ABM Treaty, so he decided to ignore it. Bush is deploying missiles in Poland and the Czech Republic.

This of course has made Russia nervous. They have responded by testing missiles meant to pierce the Bush/Knollenberg Missile Defense Project. Putin said "It wasn't us who initiated a new round of the arms race."

Yes. It seems that Bush and Knollenberg can do much worse than Iraq. And they have done it.

Joe Knollenberg Isn't Competent Enough to Represent Oakland County.

Bush & Knollenberg Ignore History

George Bush and Joe Knollenberg's war in Iraq has been a debacle.

Too bad neither of them has enough curiousity to read a book -- or investigate before taking such a drastic action as going to war. And they wouldn't have had to look far to get a tremendous amount of information.

Daddy Bush and his cronies was smart enough to not try to take over Iraq. They predicted that taking over Iraq would be disasterous. Daddy Bush's cabinet had much better insight into the situation than Jr. and Joe Knollenberg.

Gen. NORMAN SCHWARZKOPF: On the question of going to Baghdad_ if you remember the Vietnam war, we had no international legitimacy for what we did. As
a result, we, first of all, lost the battle in world public opinion. Eventually,
we lost the battle at home.

In the Gulf war, we had great international legitimacy in the form of eight United Nations resolutions, every one of which said, "Kick Iraq out of Kuwait." Did not say one word about going into Iraq, taking Baghdad, conquering the whole country and- and hanging Saddam Hussein. That's point number one.

Point number two- had we gone on to Baghdad, I don't believe the French would have gone and I'm quite sure that the Arab coalition would not have gone. The coalition would have ruptured and the only people that would have gone would have been the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

And, oh, by the way, I think we'd still be there. We'd be like a dinosaur in a tar pit. We could not have gotten out and we'd still be the occupying power and we'd be paying 100 percent of all the costs to administer all of Iraq.

Even Dick Cheney said it would have been wrong to try to take over Iraq. Cheney said:

we'd have had to put another government in its place.

What kind of government? Should it be a Sunni government or Shi'i government or a Kurdish government or Ba'athist regime? Or maybe we want to bring in some of the Islamic fundamentalists? How long would we have had to stay in Baghdad to keep that government in place? What would happen to the government once U.S. forces withdrew? How many casualties should the United States accept in that effort to try to create clarity and stability in a situation that is inherently unstable?

I think it is vitally important for a President to know when to use military force. I think it is also very important for him to know when not to commit U.S. military force. And it's my view that the President got it right both times, that it would have been a mistake for us to get bogged down in the quagmire inside Iraq."

Yes. Cheney knew that invading Iraq would result in an endless war. Did Bush Jr. and Joe Knollenberg not know, not care, or not know what to do?

Even though the experts warned that it would result in an endless and bloody war, Joe Knollenberg has consistently voted to give George Bush a blank check on Iraq.

Joe Knollenberg's War In Iraq Has Failed.
We need New Leadership to Fix This Mess.

Joe Supports English as Official Language, not national Language

As I was watching the Democratic debate on CNN on Sunday night, I learned the difference between having English as the "official" language and as the national language. And wow what a difference. Last week Joe NOllenberg came out in favor of English as the Official language. When the Democratic debate turned to the issue of immigration, Hillary Clinton did a little educating on the issue. Then I re-read Joe's article on immigration in the Oakland Press from last week.

If English were the official language, all government publications could only be published in English. Ballots to vote could only be printed in English and all other sorts of discrimination against individuals that do not speak English and this is probably the aim of the Republic party, to decrease the number of non-English speakers that are able to vote. The only way the Republics think then can win elections in the future is by having fewer voters that would in higher numbers vote for Democrats. That's really what the firings of the US Attorneys over.

160 Americans Killed

160 more U.S. Troops have died since Joe Knollenberg voted against a timetable to withdraw from Iraq.

160 more of our friends, neighbors, co-workers.

160 more mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers.

160 more sons and daughters.

160 more Americans have died since Joe Knollenberg voted against a timetable to withdraw from Iraq.

160 more Americans have died Since KNOLLENBERG VOTED NO on redeploying the troops

How many more have to die before Joe Knollenberg will actually do something to stop this slaughter?
